Will there be a second season of the 1883 Yellowstone TV show? (2023)

Since the release of the Yellowstone TV show ad in 1883, fans of the hit series have been wondering about a second season.

This article gives you everything you need to know about Season 2, including whether or not the network will greenlight it.

Is it passing?

The short answer is no. There will not be a second season of Yellowstone Prequel 1883. However, we are still determining the possibility of more shows like this one in the future.

It has been a fan favorite on television in the United States. Plus, it includes many fan-favorite characters from the original Yellowstone series.

The show's first season was well received by critics and audiences alike, with an average rating of89% on rotten tomatoes.

However, it's more complicated than announcing a complete ending to 1883. Paramount has given viewers hope for another season for 1883.

But after Taylor Sheridan announced her fate, the network stopped confirming more of the former show. Other fans noticed that the official Instagram account changed from 1883 to1923.

Additionally, a Paramount representative confirmed 1923 as the next installment of the 1883 TV show.duttons'story, the story is independent for both.

However, since its premiere, Taylor Sheridan had already made it clear that the series was a limited series. He had already mapped out how Dutton's ancestors got the land that is now Yellowstone Ranch.

Noan interview with deadline, Taylor revealed how Paramount had been eagerly awaiting a sequel to Yellowstone 1883.

According to him, even having read the scripts, the network needed to get the memo. After all, all the main characters died; that was enough to dust off the show.

Taylor himself sees the show as a 10-hour movie where the characters live happily ever after.

1883 season 2 misunderstanding creates Bass Reeves story

As the second season of 1883 turned out to be a debate that wasn't going to end anytime soon, Paramount+ announced another run for 1883, albeit in a different manner. Unlike the other prequel, it was announced that it would feature a new story with new characters.

Focusing on the Lone Ranger but in the shadow of the original show, 1883: The Bass Reeves Story would be an alternate recap.

Circa 1883: The Bass Reeves Story

The show revolves around Bass Reeves (David Oyelowo), America's first black sheriff in the Old West. He made over 3,000 arrests without any injuries.

He was recruited in 1885 in the Indigenous Territory, which he adopted after being freed from slavery. Reeves being an inspiration for the Lone Ranger is the only story in the open books we'll know when updates come out.

At the moment, the show is still cooking, with just two confirmed casts; British actor David Oyelowo and Hollywood star Dennis Quaid. Oyelowo, playing Reeves, was the first to be announced as the main cast.

Other acclaimed films he has appeared in include; “The Butler”, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, “One Kingdom”, “Queen of Katwe”, “Jack Reacher” and “Selma”.

He received a Golden Globe nomination for playing Peter Snowden in "Nightingale" in 2014. He most recently appeared in 2021's "The Girl Before" in a lead role and starred in "Les Miserables" and "Star Wars: Rebels", among others. others.

according to variety, Quaid will play Sherrill Lynn, the Deputy US Marshal, who made appearances in 1970s blockbusters like "The Day After Tomorrow", "The Parent Trap" and "The Big Easy".

In addition to the two actors, Cole Hauser (Yellowstone's Rip Wheeler) is believed to have a role in the spin-off.

How many episodes is it?

Paramount+ announced six episodes of 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. Like previous prequels, we can expect each one to be around an hour long.

Taylor Sheridan revealed in an interview that he would direct the first two episodes of the series. Additionally, he will executive produce alongside David Oyelowo (the lead actor) with Jessica (his wife).

It has yet to be confirmed by the director behind the remaining episodes.

Some reps suggest a 2023 premiere, which is more likely considering Yellowstone's fifth season premiered in November.

Good thing there's something in Yellowstone to whet your appetite; It's 1923 and Yellowstone has reached its fifth season. Also, there are several shows similar to Yellowstone.

Where to look?

“1883: The Bass Reeves Story” will be available to view exclusively on Paramount+ upon its release.

The broadcast will be available in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Latin America, Canada, Scandinavia and the Middle East.

1923 as the next installment

It was the 1883 ashes that inspired the 1923 chapter. Sheridan confessed that he had to study Montana and world history to develop the story.

One thing that makes the Duttons such a great family is that their situations are often unique to each show. Although 1923, Yellowstone and 1883 are independent, they come together completely.

The show stars Jacob Dutton played by Harrison Ford and Cara Dutton played by Helen Mirren, as the Yellowstone Ranch leads a new generation of Duttons into an era where all the plagues of the 20th century.

The Great Depression and Prohibition ended, and historic droughts and pandemics hit Yellowstone.

1883 Rooting cast in 1923

Aside from adjusting to the ranch, family is the only thing that matters to the Duttons. The Dutton family tree is large, with a lineage that runs through the generations.

With the exception of a few cases like Sam Elliott and Harrison Ford, the family's central figures are not directly linked to John Dutton.

Here are the main characters from the last issue, 1923:

(Video) 1883 Season 2 Trailer, Release Date (PREDICTIONS)

  • Harrison Ford interpreta um Jacob Dutton
  • Helen Mirren role as Cara Dutton
  • Darren Mann como Jack Dutton
  • The role of Michelle Randolph is Elizabeth Strafford
  • James Badge Dale interpreta John Dutton
  • The role of Marley Shelton is Emma Dutton
  • Brian Geraghty interpreta Zane
  • Aminah Nieves is Teonna Rainwater
  • Julia Schlaepfer, who plays Alexandra
  • Brandon Sklenar role as Spenser Dutton
  • Jerome Flynn como Banner Creighton

However, it is common to see frequent flashbacks where we will meet some of the characters from 1883. Here are some of the actors we are unlikely to forget in 1923:

Tim McGraw James Dutton; Faith Hill como Margaret Dutton

These are the original patriarchs and matriarchs of the Dutton family, so their roots are expected to trace back to 1923. James, a Tennessee rancher, served in the Confederate Army. Margaret, on the other hand, worked as a nurse at the camp.

The family moved to Oregon in search of greener pastures, but had to stay in Montana after the death of their daughter Elsa (Isabel May).

She was the main narrator in 1883, appearing in 1993 Episode 1 via voiceover. Furthermore, John and Spencer are the children of James and Margaret Dutton.

Harrison Ford interpreta um Jacob Dutton; Helen Mirren interpreta Cara Dutton

Jacob and Margaret were the main couple in 1923. They succeeded the ranch in the 1890s after the deaths of James and Margaret. Jacob is James Duttons, but he and his wife have no children.

He served in the Livestock Association as Commissioner, a role that has been successful in the Duttons family for generations. Jacob and his wife are the guardians of his brother's son John and his son Jack.

Dawn Olivieri as Claire Dutton

Jacobs and James' sister Claire was among James' caravan in 1883. She lost her husband, and when the last of her children, Mary Abel, died, she stayed behind and committed suicide.

James Badge Dale como John Dutton

John, the ranch manager, and Emma Dutton (Marley Shelton) made very few appearances in 1923, and the reason why is pretty obvious.

John is an infant in 1883 and is killed by Banner, the show's shepherd, obscuring his connection to John Dutton III because they had no other child by 1923.

Darren Mann interpreta Jack Dutton

John and Emma Dutton's eldest son, Jack, works with his great-uncle Jacob on his ranch in 1923 as he prepares to marry Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph).

Sometimes nicknamed John, presumably John Dutton II, but still unconfirmed in 1923.

Juan Dutton II

John Dutton III's (Kevin Costner) father has generated some confusion as to whether he is the eldest Jack Dutton or the brother (John and Emma's second son).

However, Sheridan announced that the character would appear more in spin-offs from the 1940s and 1960s.

Why Having a Second Season of 1883 Wasn't a Good Idea

The 1883 journey west was cruel and dangerous, but not to the American frontier, which was a sight to behold. The journey sees Elsa become a true woman and cowgirl.

Elsa defends her father's wagon throughout 1883 until she receives a fatal arrow in her torso. However, he later succumbs to his arrow wound in Montana in his father's arms.

As a main character, her death was a perfect wrapper, as James and Margaret lived in the land of their daughter's death.

In addition to Elsa's death, other characters had proper endings. For example, Shea committed suicide rather than live with the pain of losing her family.

He had only one monumental mission: to bring immigrants across the country, which he accomplished by the end of the series.

Thomas, another minor character, had a happy ending that brought the series to a satisfying conclusion.

Most fans would be happy with a second season, but continuing the story with the surviving characters would do away with unnecessary connections. While we may not see the second season of 1883, 1923 will keep us going.

While 1883 has officially been axed, we should expect more in the upcoming miniseries 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. It continues the same period, but with a different story.

However, the Duttons will jump to1923, another Yellowstone prequel, which as usual, is a violent, sometimes sad, but endearing story of the Dutton family.
